The shamisen is a traditional three-stringed lute of Japan. The styles of shamisen are categorized based on construction and playing technique. The Tsugaru style of Shamisen is from Aomori Prefecture, the northernmost part of Honshu Island. The size of the tsugaru style shamisen is called Futozao-Shamisen, which means "thick neck shamisen". The Tsugaru style is louder and striking with the bachi (plectrum) is executed more powerfully than other shamisen styles.
